Scuderie del Garda Newcastle: Where Passion, Genetics, and Nature Shape the Future of Sport Horses
In the heart of Castelnuovo del Garda, among the rolling hills of the Verona countryside, a project has taken shape that blends dedication, expertise, and deep respect for nature: Scuderie del Garda Newcastle. Founded by Alberto Chincherini, the facility has become a point of reference for those seeking a place where horses are carefully managed, raised in freedom, and enhanced through thoughtful genetic selection aimed at high-level sport.

A new beginning driven by passion
“With the move to Scuderie del Garda, located in the municipality of Castelnuovo del Garda – Newcastle, a new project was born,” Alberto explains succinctly when recalling the origin of Scuderie del Garda Newcastle. Yet behind this simple statement lies a much deeper story.
It is the story of a man who spent many years riding, exploring every dimension of the equestrian world—from bloodlines to equine psychology—until an injury forced him to stop.
“I had a knee replacement and could no longer ride. But the passion didn’t stop. So I started breeding,” he recounts.
From that moment onward, what began as a personal inclination gradually evolved into a demanding yet coherent journey, transforming passion into a genuine breeding philosophy.
Observation and respect at the core
The Newcastle breeding program stands out for its meticulous approach, where nothing is left to chance and every decision is guided by patient observation and method.
“We selected bloodlines that, through observation, seemed to have strong potential. When tested, they proved capable of delivering results. It’s a process of continuous observation,” Alberto explains.
What truly sets this breeding operation apart from many others, however, is the way young horses are managed. Foals grow up in complete freedom, in spacious paddocks, beginning their sporting careers without pressure or forced training.
The goal is clear: to allow horses to develop harmoniously, both physically and mentally, ensuring a solid foundation for their future athletic careers.
Over 120 horses and a facility serving multiple disciplines
Today, Scuderie del Garda Newcastle hosts approximately 65 horses owned by the farm—including broodmares, foals, and young horses in training—alongside around 60 boarded horses.
The facility has been designed to provide tailored services for a wide range of needs and disciplines, from recreational riding to show jumping and dressage, supported by specialized instructors.
This was a deliberate choice, reflecting Alberto’s vision of creating a multidisciplinary environment where each horse can find its ideal path and every rider can rely on structured, professional training.
Genetics as a strategic vision
Genetic selection represents one of the fundamental pillars of Alberto’s work. Broodmares and stallions are chosen according to two key criteria: sport performance and morphological structure.
Among the most significant bloodlines developed within the breeding program, Alberto highlights Cantares, Arwen, and Dominator—reference genealogies that have contributed to producing promising young horses.
The objective is clear: to breed sport horses capable of competing at the highest levels, with particular attention not only to athletic talent but also to temperament.
“Temperament is fundamental. A calm horse allows you to work peacefully, making the animal more responsive,” Alberto says with conviction.
To ensure targeted and scientifically supported breeding choices, the farm collaborates with an experienced veterinarian and with Avantea, a leading centre for equine reproduction. This partnership reflects the desire to combine practical experience with the most advanced reproductive technologies.
Nature as an essential ally
Castelnuovo del Garda is not merely an address—it is an integral part of the project itself.
The gentle hills, mild climate, and open landscapes create an environment that is ideal for the physical and psychological development of horses. If every foal is unique, the environment in which it is born and raised can make the difference between a good horse and a champion.
Daily commitment with an eye on the future
Behind every horse born at Scuderie del Garda Newcastle lies a journey shaped by dedication, care, and consistent effort.
“We evaluate the results of our genetic choices over the long term, based on sporting results,” Alberto explains simply.
Yet it is precisely this straightforward philosophy—combined with perseverance—that reveals the true essence of a project built on solid foundations.
Today, visitors to the stables can experience a welcoming yet highly professional atmosphere, where every horse is managed individually, every decision is taken with the animal’s welfare and sporting development in mind, and every step is oriented toward quality rather than quantity.
Scuderie del Garda Newcastle stand as a tangible example of how passion, knowledge, and determination can evolve into a sustainable and innovative equestrian enterprise. For those looking for a breeding program where the horse truly remains at the centre—respected in its natural rhythms and valued for its potential—this is a place worth exploring, perhaps starting with a visit to Castelnuovo del Garda itself.
