Spain’s Maria Alvarez Ponton on Nobby makes it a hat-trick at Assisi

Maria Alvarez Ponton won the Meydan City FEI Open European Endurance Championships 2009 on Nobby, with an average speed of 19.554 km/hr, overtaking Al Rasimi Abdullah from the United Arab Emirates on Castelbar Sobia and the Belgian Rachel Jaumotte on Rukban Dikruhu MMN in the final stages. With this success the Spaniard has become national, European and world champion in the same year, a first in the world of endurance.France lost defending European champion Jean Philippe Frances at the half-way point. The same end which the king of Malaysia also suffered. Disappointment for the Italian participants with Roman rider, Enrico Ercoli, suffering from the exclusion of his horse, Aiska, which had to pay a visit the vet. Melania Serioli and Alessandra Brunelli also had to stop due to problems with their horses, Faibel Fac and Kaila de Tensonnieves. As a consequence the best Italy could muster was 24th place from Simona Garatti on Z’Tadore Al Maury, and Martina Lui on Jao Farouza, 26th. Jacopo Di Matteo on Dayse, who ran without a team, finished 29th.
