Splendid Draghunting at Villa Calvi di Monte Solaro

Calvi di Monte Solaro villa, which hosts the Milanse Hunting Society’s hunt, fulfils its main funtion as holiday home to Milanese nobles. It was built in the XVII century and has been owned by many noble families, from the Calvi family but in 1948 became property of Count Radice Fossati Confalonieri.
A dank day welcomed the numerous riders ready to face the undulating countryside and the colourful woods that stretch out between the Seveso and Lambro in the west of Brianza. At the kill there was not one of the sixty riders who was not overwhelmed by the beauty of the hunt, the obstacles overcome, the countryside crossed and the hearty rhythm of the dogs – a true mark of the lion as they say in Tipperery.
The Montesolaro hunt is one that goes back to the 1980’s and was born from the friendship between the landowners and CountLudovico Bettoni, Cazzago, who was the master of the Brescia Countryside Path Society. The Milanese arrived later, under the command of M.F.H.Gi.Bi, Litta Modignani, whose team was made up of Pietro Di Nola, field master, and whippers Leopoldo Cicogna Mozzoni, Paolino Biasia, Alessandro Berlingieri and Filippo Pirera, with their rich pack of fox-hounds.
