Success for Bologni at Memorial Dalla Chiesa GP
At Gese di San Lazzaro in Savena Arnaldo Bologni on Pilor claimed a stunning victory with a double clear round to win the Memorial Dalla Chiesa 2010 Grand Prix. 43 riders competed in the GP on a 145 metre course designed by German Dieks Cunther, and only 14 made it to the barrage. The second round was a nail-biting affair where time was the deciding factor. The fastest was Bologni with 33.56 seconds, ahead of Gianluca Apolloni in the silver medal position and Juan Carlos Garcia bronze on 33.71 seconds.The Fanfare of the Carabinieri of the Scuola Marescialli e Brigadieri di Firenze, who played throughout both rounds, rounded off the event by accompanying the lap of honour. Alongside the enthusiastic public were names of note, such as the mayor of Bologna, Francesco del Bono; the mayor of San Lazzaro di Savena, Marco Maciantelli; Colonel Antonio Paparella, provincial commander of the carabinieri; Dr. Andrea Riffeser Monti, editor of Il resto del Carlino (national Equestrian Worldpaper) and Cavallo Magazine, sponsor of the event. At the prize giving ceremony were Drs. Antonella Dallari, president of the FISE regional committee and Sister Andreina Bassi, representative of the Red Cross.The gate receipts were donated to the research for children’s chronic illness, represented by the Gianmaria Setti Carraro Foundation.
So the 18th Master D’Italia Memorial dall Chiesa event closed with a triumphal gallop to the rhythm set by the Fanfare dei Carabinieri where the participants celebrated Christmas, recalling the memory of those who have fought for the country, like Gen. Dalla Chiesa and his wife Emanuela Setti Carraro, cut down by the mafia in Palermo in 1982.
