SVAG CS Classics in Givrins kicked off yesterday

The 2013 edition of the SVAG CS Classic kicked off yesterday at the CS Ranch. It is now the eighth year running that the Swiss facility is hosting the most prestigious Reining show in Switzerland.
Opening the competition today was the $3,000-added NRHA Intermediate Non Pro. Taking the win was Jennifer Schleiniger of Switzerland riding her Masked Gunman, a five-year-old Quarter Horse stallion by Gunner and out of Starmax RM. Jennifer started showing in NRHA competition in 2011 but she’s no stranger to the pen having shown in AQHA competition ever since she was 18. Jennifer purchased Masked Gunman from Alessandro Pollarini of Italy last year in August and started showing him in March this year.
A half a point behind the winner, second place honors went to Italian Roberta Gianformaggio riding her Top Of The Top, an eleven-year-old Quarter Horse stallion by Surprise Enterprise and out of Jackie Cody Pine.
Claiming both first and second place honors in the $5,000-added NRHA Intermediate Open was Quentin Galliere. The Belgian rider based in France scored a 216 for the win riding Piet Mestdagh’s Rs Polyphemus Jac (RS Great Jac Feona x Harlan Glo), a seven-year-old stallion bred by Claudio Risso of Italy. Galliere placed second on another Mestagh owned horse, RS Spat Man O War, a five-year-old stallion, also bred by Risso, by Spat Olena and out of RS Hollywood HGLO.
It took a 222 to win the $1,000-added NRHA 7 & Up Non Pro class and that is exactly what Gina Maria of Swtizerland, riding Gunners Enterprise (Gunner x My Royal Enterprise) scored.
In second place was Piet Mestdagh riding his BH Most Wanted. Aboard the seven-year-old stallion by Mr BH Jac and out of Tuckers Missy, the Belgian rider scored a 219.5.
Two riders tied to win the $2,000-added NRHA 7 & Up Open with a score of 219.5: Cira Baeck riding Ruediger Diedenhofen’s Bubblicious Gump BB (Little Gump x Shanaya Whiz) and Bernard Fonck riding Dany and Mireille Cerato’s Sail On Top Whizard (Whizard Jac x Miss N Sis). Both Belgian riders are past multiple NRHA World Champions and Fonck is an NRHA Million Dollar Rider. For Cira the win was particularly sweet for two reasons, the first being that she unofficially surpassed the $500,000 mark in NRHA competition and the second being that the Baeck’s bred the seven-year-old mare she tied to win on.
Just as happy with his horse was Fonck: „I will be showing Sail On Top Whizard in the $30,000-added Open on Saturday so today I just didn’t want to ask much from him. As always he performed well for me.
The SVAG CS Classic will bring back the action tomorrow with the Rookie Level 2 followed by the $500-added NRHA Limited Open. The $20,000-added SVAG CS Classic Non Pro will close the day with the best European non professional riders vying fort he title aboard Europe’s best horses.
High level of competition in Givrins is also accompanied by fun. Tomorrow the CS Ranch will welcome the Europa Park who will no doubt entertain both young and old. Closing the day will also be the fun filled party.
Entry is free of charge during all the event.
