Teenage success for Sardinian rider at Elite Endurance Italian Pony Championship
Wonderful pony success for sixteen-year-old Giulia Delinna at Pratoni del Vivaro near Rome. The Elite 13 Endurance Italian Pony Championship gold medal went to young rider Giulia Delinna ahead of twelve other riders over the course in Lazio.Born in Sassari, Sardinia, the 16-year-old scored 68.8 points on Rebelde ahead of lombardy’s Marta Battistoni on Bettenakker’s Bernadette who recorded 65.9 and Lazio’s Anna Picone on Muy Ben Shai (65.7). There was an excellent sixth place for Giulia’s younger sister, Claudia (10 years) on Osilesu with 63.9 points.
It was a positive transfer for the Delinna sisters accompanied by father Gianni who followed them throughout the Championships at the Ranieri Equestrian Center in Campiello at Pratoni del Vivaro organized by the “The Old Owl“ Horse Club. After the 19.5km Emerging category, the Elite was the most important race in the Italian Championships, and Giulia and Claudia Delinna participated for the first time.In fact, in the three stages of the Sardinian pony championship that have already taken place on the island their names are in the category B, below the Elite. Handing out the awards was Duccio Bartalucci, the coordinator of the Endurance department of Fise.
