There are hundreds of scams that are practiced daily on the Internet, ten of which have been unearthed in Lombardy. The list of complaints about computer crimes is long, including the complexity and sophistication of the mechanisms of fraud. Like the poor American businessman cheated by Toto, Lombard gentleman must have felt the same after he tried to buy a horse on the Internet. The man was persuaded to send a few thousand euros in return for an animal. Not content with that, the fraudsters asked him to send more money saying it was necessary to bribe the customs. Surely, the fodder to field would have been provided? Obviously not the person was extorted even further. Needless to say the unfortunate man never received a horse and this cautionary story is on of many which are growing in worrying numbers.
