The Lexington CCI4* turns 40

The big event most horse lovers have been looking forward to is finally upon us, on Friday April 26 the 2018 edition of the Land Rover Kentucky Three Day Eventing will finally kick off. It is the only international 4 star event on American soil this year and it is also the event’s 40th anniversary.
A lot has changed since the first edition in 1978, but the attraction of the Kentucky Horse Park remains. The 2018 edition will re-propose a tasty friendly exhibition in the style of the Nations Cup, called the Dubarry of Ireland Nations Team Challenge where four of the most successful teams in the discipline will take to the field: USA – Will Coleman, Buck Davidson, Phillip Dutton and Boyd Martin
AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND AND POLAND – Christopher Burton (AUS), Joe Meyer (NZL) and Pawel Spisak (POL)
CANADA – Hawley Bennett Awad, Lisa Marie Fergusson, Colleen Loach and Waylon Roberts
GERMANY, GREAT BRITAIN AND IRELAND – Tim Bourke (IRL), Michael Jung (GER), Oliver Towend (GBR) and Sam Watson (IRL).
The list of participants for the Three Day includes many of the top names in the sport, including Mr Treble Michael Jung (Olympic, World and European Champion at the same time) who will be aiming for his fourth consecutive victory in Kentucky. Having won the three previous editions, if Jung can defend his title in 2018 he’ll be the first athlete to win four in a row.
