The silence from Cristoforo Colombo street

Do you the remember the October Revolution? Not the Russia one but the Roman version 15 months ago, which pushed those in charge of thousands of horses on the verge of starvation in front of the governmental ministry concerned. The horse world was moving against those who had mismanaged the running of the sector in recent years, frittering away funds without taking the necessary appropriate measures. Hundreds, thousands of euro thrown to the wind without curing a cancer that day after day was eating away at the entire sector. All the victims of that horrendous negligence joined forces, driven by desperation, and by car, bus and train made their way to the government buildings to ask for help. That call for aid was answered to by a Man from the North, who decided to act swiftly to save the Italian equestrian world from disappearing off the radar for good. That Man from the North listened to all of the representatives from the various equestrian categories day after day to arrive at an idea on how to save the Italian horse world. After a few months reflection he came up with his winning formula. Time was given by the government body concerned to put the plan into action and at the same time there was a promise of an immediate injection of economic aid to tackle the most urgent difficulties. In two instalments the aid arrived in the coffers of the government body concerned, allowing a sigh of relief from those very same directors. (Not worth mentioning the various press releases, including Icon, preaching transparency). Now, various months have passed since the arrival of the second instalment but the promised transparency has not transpired. Also, the press releases have dried up and a deafening silence has drowned out the desire to turn the page. We are definitely mistaken but the suspicion that the Man from the North’s imminent farewell has lulled the directors from Via Cristoforo Colombo into a cosy sleep in their comfortable armchairs.
