After Mexico City, the Longines Global Champions Tour returns to the stunning setting of Miami Beach for the third year running (the first in 2015).
As the second leg in the 2018 season, the famous venue on America’s East Coast will provide the perfect backdrop for the three-day event taking place from 5th to 7th April. The world’s top horses and riders compete to gain valuable points in the overall Championship season battle.
Fresh from his Mexico City Grand Prix win and back in action this week will be Scott Brash, who also won the inaugural LGCT Miami Beach back in 2015. The Scottish star hopes to extend his recent success, however he will face the challenges of previous Miami Beach winners Edwina Tops-Alexander (AUS) and Jerome Guery (BEL), who won in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
A long list of American stars, including Laura Kraut, Jessica Springsteen, Margie Goldstein-Engle, Beezie Madden, Jennifer Gates, Georgina Bloomberg and Lauren Hough will all be looking for a home turf win, supported by an extra boost from their home fans.
With just three points difference in the overall LGCT ranking, Brash will want to widen the gap to the high-calibre field behind. Hot on his heels is Italy’s Alberto Zorzi, along with Christian Ahlmann, Marcus Ehning, Lorenzo De Luca, Ben Maher, Michael Whitaker, Bertram Allen, Simon Delestre, Roger-Yves Bost, Maikel van der Vleuten, Pius Schwizer, Sergio Alvarez Moya, Jane Richard Philips and Gerco Schroder.
