Tour 4, Day 1 at Al Shaqab: Max Kühner claims CSI5* 1.50m, Kristen Vanderveen shines with three wins

Doha, Qatar – 29 January 2026Tour 4 of the H.H. The Father Amir’s Prix 2026 officially got underway today at the iconic Al Shaqab, marking the final chapter of the four-tour international circuit. Running from 29–31 January at the Longines Arena, the last Tour offers a €1,217,000 weekend prize fund within a total season purse of €3,303,000, featuring CSI5*, CSI3* and CSI1* competitions.

Day 1 highlights

The opening day belonged to Kristen Vanderveen (USA), who delivered an impressive three-win performance. Vanderveen claimed victory in the CSI3 1.35m Special Two-Phase* with Bull Run’s Lioness, followed by another win in the CSI3 1.25m Faults & Time* aboard Bull Run’s Mary. She later topped the CSI5 1.40m Two Phases* with Starbucks 27.

The evening CSI5* feature saw Max Kühner (AUT) take the win in the CSI5 1.50m Faults & Time (LR-B)* with Greece 5, producing a fast clear round. He was followed by Scott Brash (GBR) riding Hello Jefferson.

In the CSI3* ranks, France’s Lara Tryba won the 1.40m Two Phases with Flash de Talma, ahead of Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano on Diarouge Blue PS. Saudi riders dominated the CSI1* classes, with Khalid Al Hadi winning the 1.20m Faults & Time on Hurry UP and Fahad Alshammari taking the 1.10m Special Two-Phase with Le Garde.

Strong showing from Qatari riders

Qatari athletes delivered solid performances throughout the day. Suhaim Hamad Al Yafei finished second in the CSI3 1.35m Special Two-Phase* with Flash du Puits and added another podium finish in CSI1*. Ali Omar A H Al Ansari placed second in CSI1* with Nikita Eindeken Z, while Bassem Mohammed took fourth in the CSI3 1.40m Two Phases* aboard Wathnan Popeye. In CSI5*, Mohammed Khalifa A Al Baker stepped onto the podium with third place in the 1.40m Two Phases riding Dukhan 3.
