Therapeutic alternatives include treatments such as chiropractic manipulation, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicines that can happily support traditional treatments.
There are many veterinarians who have experimented and deepened the world of alternative therapies, within which they have found absolutely effective means to relax the horse, make it feel at ease, with emotional conditioning to make it feel more at ease at performing.
Especially in Florida, in the center of equine veterinarians for sport horses at Palm Beach Equestrian Center, the use of these applications has been carefully studied, studying the benefits: both chiropractic manipulation and acupuncture can dissolve any muscle stiffness in the horse and help maintain good flexibility of the musculoskeletal system as well as delaying the problems of locomotion which are typical of aging, prolonging the efficiency and “youth“ of the quadrupedal muscles.
Both have also proved to be very useful in treating back pain, in addition to the classic veterinary protocol which are very effective tools.
Acupuncture, based on the stimulation of hidden energy channels distributed throughout the body in connection with certain internal organs, has been found not only to be applied in addition to traditional therapies to solve musculoskeletal problems, osteoarthritis and to alleviate degenerative discomfort, but also to alleviate neurological problems, to resolve gastrointestinal, metabolic or respiratory disorders such as asthma and chronic cough.
Over the years, alternative therapies have been increasingly successful in the veterinary field as complementary treatments to traditional therapies, in the case of chiropractic manipulation the goal is to rebalance the main structure (spine) with with muscle manipulation and restore the natural mobility of the horse after identifying the cause that generates the restriction of mobility, such as a subluxation.
