VIDEO LGCT Doha: highlights, results and today’s starting order.

There was another victory for Germany at the Doha CSI5* yesterday evening.
Following on from Hans-Dieter Dreher’s victory on the opening day, fellow German rider Daniel Deusser took centre stage yesterday by winning the 1.50m/1.55m competition on his 9 year-old Pironella (Non Stop).
The German rider finished ahead of Irishman Denis Lynch on All Star 5 (Argentinus) in second while there was another German rider on the podium in third place in the form of Marco Kutscher with Liberty Son (Clooney). The rest of the top-ten was as follows:
4th Scott Brash GBR Hello I’m Lady
5th Al Rumaihi Ali Yousef QAT Gunder
6th Michael Whitaker GBR Valentin R
7th Mark McAuley IRL Isco de Amoranda
8th Christian Ahlmann GER Aragon Z
9th Olexsandr Onyshchenko UKR Valentino Velvet
10th Alexis Borrin FRA Ruby de la Fosse

Yesterday’s events also mean we’re edging closer to the big event and today at 17.15 the first of the 2 rounds gets underway to determine the winner of this edition of the Longines Global Champions Tour. There are 3 international stars in line for the crown: the current title holder Scott Brash, currently in third place in the rankings, second ranked Rolf-Goran Bengtsson and the current ranking leader Ludger Beerbaum.
It’s worth mentioning that the German rider has changed his mount after his grey Holsteiner mare Chiara suffered a slight bout of colic. The vet has given the all clear to the jumper, but Ludger has nonetheless decided to change his performer. He will now be competing with the stallion Zinedine who is undoubtedly an excellent option, but doesn’t guarantee the same kind of reliability as his grey mare in such an important contest.
