Vitale “leader” at the Favorita in Palermo

Over two hundred horses were present at the Favorita Park in Palermo for a show jumping event that drew equestrian followers from not only all over Sicily but further afield as well.Local rider Andrea Vitale was one of the favourites for the Sicilian Trophy 2009 in the C130 category and did not disappoint as he finished first on Breezer without any errors and second on Toreador with four penalty points in a time of 63.79.Four penalty points with a time of 66.84 landed Flavio Sinagra on Trafic a third place. In the C125 Eugenio Penna on Chivas 26, took the honours with no penalties and a time of 65.30. Another local rider Salvatore Indelicato on Talent was just behind followed by Daniele Nicastri on Saniki.Vitale opened the day with the fastest round on Toreador in the C130 With Domenico Tripoli on Blusky behind.The C120 on Saturday went to Bruno Nasisi riding Nugana ahead of Santo Vitale on Obsession and Tripoli third, on Ninarella.The President of the Regional FISE Committee in Sicily, Pierfrancesco Matarazzo said: “I feel that a lot of the credit has to go to Palermo City Council and CONI that has maintained Palermo as a the main international event for the last forty years.“
