WEF 2018: Beezie Madden and Breitling LS wow in Wellington

Today, we’ll be confining our coverage of the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida. The ninth week, of the 12 in total, is about to start.
As usual, the week will begin with a new instalment of the Lunch & Learn Series; this week the topic being covered is how to enhance the resources of competitive horses. The Lunch & Learn Series is a free initiative for riders, trainers and owners who wish to enrich their knowledge by learning from the experience of professionals in the sector.
The competitive side of the event will be on Friday, March 9 with the American Pony Hunter Derby the day’s highlight. Friday will also be the day for the Challenge of Americas musical Grand Prix; an event famous around the world for its spectacularity.
The national Hunter Derby will be on Saturday and will be followed by the Saturday Night Lights Douglas Elliman Grand Prix CSI5* worth a total 385 thousand dollars.
This week’s Ride & Learn initiative will see Daniel Zetterman hold a workshop on show jumping with 12 pairs taking part.
Next, let’s see how who stood out in last week’s competitions. The queen of show jumping, Beezie Madden, was back in the limelight as she dominated the CSIO4* Grand Prix riding Breitling LS, who she’ll also be taking to the World Cup in Paris.
Cheered on by the Wellington crowd, Madden and 12-year-old from Quintero shown in the final test of the CSIO4*, finishing ahead of runner-up Richie Moloney (riding Carrabis Z) and third place Adrienne Sternlicht (riding Cristalline).
Beezie Madden and Breitling LS will be taking part in the WEF again next week to test the jumper on a grass field, according to Madden the horse is fast and very efficient in jump-offs.
The other significant victory last week was the British team’s triumph in the Nation’s Cup CSIO4*.
