WEF 2018 week 6: Daniel Bluman claims second win
The fifth week of the Winter Equestrian Festival 2018 in Wellington has come to a close. The WEF is a 12-week long equestrian event at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Florida.
Once again the week starts off with the Lunch & Learn Series, the clinic this week will be led by Tonya Johnston and will deal with psychological themes which are helpful in preparing for competitions.
In regards to the sports events, the Equanimity WEF Challenge Cup will be held on Thursday 15th, a dressage test worth $35 thousand.
The show jumping will come to an end on Friday with the best jumpers on the circuit competing in the Rushy Marsh Farm Grand Prix CSI3*, while Saturday will see the 1.50m Hollow Creek Farm followed by the day’s main event; the $100-thousand Saturday Night Lights Hunting event. On Sunday, the attention turns to the younger riders who will be competing in the Hermès Under 25 Grand Prix.
While we wait to see how things develop over the coming week, let’s take a look back at the protagonists from the week that has just come to an end.
Daniel Bluman claimed the first CSI5* Grand Prix riding Ladriano Z (Lawito), a ten-year-old Zangersheide gelding owned by Over The Top Stables LLC, in an event set up by Brit Kelvin Bywater, with 40 pairings competing, including illustrious names like Beat Mandli, on KWPN of 10 Dsarie, who finished second and was the first to take on the second round.
Third place in the Grand Prix went to Irish rider Cian O’Connor, riding Clenur.
This was Bluman’s second win after having come out on top of last week’s CSI4* GP with Netjets su Sancha LS. Ladriano Z joined his current stable early in 2017 and the duo had already won the $300 thousand CSI4* Grand Prix at the Hampton Classic.
