WEF 2018 week 6 review and look ahead to week 7

Week six in Wellington has been one of great action and we can now look forward to another seven days of intense activity.
At the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center, the seventh of the 12 sporting events of this season of the Winter Equestrian Festival 2018, scheduled from 21st to 25th February, the 7th week begins with a Lunch & Learning Series which deals with the topic related to the impact of globalization on local equestrian realities.
Also in the program is the always appreciated Ride & Learn Series which will see the specialist in hunting, Sandy Ferrell, in the clinic dedicated to young hunters.
The sports program will start on Friday with the seventh round of the Equinimity WEF Challenge Cup while in the evening spotlight on dressage discipline with the Friday Night Stars of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival where some of the best international specialists will perform in a series of practical demonstrations, among them next week (Wednesday 28 February) there will also be the British champion Carl Hester.
The highlight of the next day will welcome the pairs to the show jumping arena for the prestigious CSI5 * Rolex Grand Prix with prize money of $384,000.
Looking back to week six, the main event of the week was the CSI3 * the Rushy Marsh Farm Grand Prix with the Belgian Olivier Philippaerts at the helm of H & M Ikker winning. He had already won the event on Thursday in what was the sixth round of the Equinimity WEF Challenge Cup.
For the young Philippaerts (24 years), it was the first participation in the Winter Equestrian Festival, to get acclimatized to the outdoor season as in the past he was mainly engaged in the European indoor season .
Second was the Argentine Gustavo Prato on Carna Z (2005 from Crown Z), followed in third place by the Canadian Mario Deslauries with the young jumper Bardolina 2 (2009 by Clarimo).
On the same day, the young Hunters who took part in the amateur championship, where Stella Propp triumphed in Maraschino, took centre stage too.
