
WEG: opening ceremony tomorrow signals the start of the games

We are just one day away from the most important equestrian event of the year. Tomorrow, the 23rd of August, marks the start of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 in Normandy.
The opening ceremony will pave the way for one of the biggest editions of the WEG of all time. The numbers are impressive: 76 nations will be taking part with a total of 1000 riders and horses that will all be doing battle in their respective disciplines.
The setting up and organisation of the event involves 3000 volunteers who will be looking to satisfy the needs of the expected 500,000 spectators. In terms of media coverage, 1200 journalists will be on hand with an estimated figure of 500 million television viewers.
Focusing back on tomorrow’s opening ceremony, it promises to offer a rich and entertaining spectacle. 300 artists have been brought in for the choreography that entails 30 different scenes and will take viewers through an enthralling journey. The organisation has been entrusted to the Skertzò Group who will also benefit from the latest technology such as 3D projections.
So, the wait is nearly over and everything is in place for this huge event which involves only the most important figures of the equestrian world.
