Werner Muff shines at the Adriatic Tour

Swiss rider Werner Muff won the Grand Prix of the international Tour held at the historical equestrian centre Le Siepi in Cervia, Emilia Romagna.
And everything is already set for the second act of the competition, scheduled from Thursday March 22nd to Sunday 25th.After ten years absence, the Adriatic Tour brings back the international riding stage to the Riviera Romagnola.
The highlight of the first act of the €150,000 euro prize event, which features riders from 14 countries, was the 2* International Grand Prix which was valid for the qualification to the Longines FEI Show Jumping Ranking List.
Werner Muff clinched the victory, 19 years after his first success in the 1999 Grand Prix always at the Siepi. The Swiss rider is just 44 years old and is one of the most representative showjumpers of his country at international level, having featured in  several European Championships, World Cups and Olympic games.
Muff, riding his 2008-born gelding bay Cosby, left behind him Saudi Arabia rider Abdullah Alsharbatly atop of Barcelona and Italy’s third-placed Natale Chiaudani with Queensland E.
Also the other category valid in terms of points for the Longines Ranking List, the 2* 145, was won by another Swiss rider on Friday: Pius Schwizer, bronze winner in the team competition at the Olympic Games in pechino 2008.
Second place was home star Giacomo Casadei, 2017 Youth European Champion, who has already stolen the limelight in the natinal showjumping at the age of 15. Third was another Emilia-born young promise, the 23-year-old Elisa Baldazzi.The winner of the 140 on Thursday was Serena Curcio, who stopped the clock 4” before runner-up Natale Chiaudani; third was caporal maggiore Simone Coata. 
The horsewoman had also impresses in the 140 on Friday, having to settle for a second spot behind Czec Republic’s Sara Vingralkova who won the competition. Third-placed was Austria’s Roland Englbrecht.
Saturday was the day of Pius Schwizer, who was first in the 140 ahead of Natale Chiaudani and Serena Curcio, with the horsewoman confirming her great shape after a golden and a silver medal in the previous two days.
These were the best names from the first event at the Adriatic Tour, but from Thursday the fight will start over new on the courses designed by chef de piste Fabrizio Sonzogni, assisted by Giorgio Bernardi.
