Young horses in action at national finals at Le Siepi
Saturday and Sunday will see the Finals of the showjumping Classic Circuit for young Fise horses organized by the Ministry of Agriculture at Le Siepi. The event started on Tuesday with three trials and the finals take place on Saturday 7 and conclude on Sunday 8th. Not only are there local riders but also those from abroad including some who took part in the World Championships in Lanaken.Thursday saw the first trials for eight year olds and it was dominated by Filippo Moyersoen, a rider with vast experience who has won four Italian championships (1983 on Adam, 1989 and ’91 on Dugano, 2013 with Canada).
Behind Moyersoen, who was on Biricchina Bella, was another Azzurri veteran who has won six national titles (1987 riding Rosa, 1999 and 2001 on Paprika della Loggia, 2002 on Dime de La Cour and 2010 on Utile). It was Roberto Arioldi, the national team coach, who rode Nocciolina della Loggia.As for the seven year olds, was another rider with a rich history at the nationals, (2005 on Landru, 2009 on Kapitol d’Argonne and 2016 riding Ares): first airman Emilio Bicocchi on Faliane.The finals will be on Sunday with the six year olds at 11.30 on the Erba field and the five-year-old females at 14.30 on the Mare field.The prize money stands at 380,000 euros and there is also the World Cup event in Verona and the World Championships for young horses.Entrance is free and for more information go to: www.lesiepicervia.itPhoto: Emilio Bicocchi riding Faliane
