Zorzi on the podium at MET 2018
The 2018 Mediterranean Equestrian Tour came to close on Sunday, with the CSI3* Grand Prix presented at Oliva Nova grass ring won by Swiss rider Pius Schwizer and Chidame Z (Chippendale Z).
The pair sprinted to the victory in a time of 43.23 seconds in the 1.50m Grand Prix track that was build by Christian Wiegand and Peter Schumacher.
A total of 57 horse-and-rider combinations lined up to start in the Oliva Nova Beach and Golf Resort, but in the end only fifteen managed to jump clear over the first-round track. The jump-off was a tight fight between the top three, with Schwizer only 10 seconds ahead of runner-up pair made up of Belgium’s Hendrik Denutte and Don Flamenco (Flamenco de Semilly). Italy’s Alberto Zorzi pushed into third place atop of Contanga 3 (Catoki).
Schwizer was happy about his jumper’s performance at Oliva Nova. Chidame Z ended without any faults and as the winner pointed out, “she is almost always clear, but still need to work on speed“.
The Mediterranean Equestrian Tour now takes a short break before it resumes to competition on March 13th.
