The countdown for the Toscana Endurance Lifestyle 2018 (24-27 July) has started, an event that marks its fourth edition in San Rossore, looking at the next two years, thanks to the assignment of the FEI World Endurance Championship Young Riders & Juniors, the FEI World Endurance Championship Young Horses 2019 and the Longines FEI World Equestrian Championship 2020.
Italy has become a venue of excellence of Endurance, infact, the International Equestrian Federation’s data informs that it is the second equestrian discipline in the world, after showjumping, by number of events (930 hosted in 52 countries), number of horses (14.938) and athletes (7.142): growth due to an increase in races which, from 2007 to date, was of 100%.
The reasons for this exponential growth are, without doubt, due to the “eco-compatibility“ of the discipline.
The Endurance competitions take place on tracks mainly identified on country routes and only need structures that can be completely dismantled at the end of the race. This gives back to the environment all its original and uncontaminated beauty.
Obviously, this also applies to the Toscana Endurance Lifestyle 2018, where the FEI Meydan Endurance Championship Young Riders & Juniors (Thursday 26) and the H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Italy Endurance Festival (Friday 27th), are both surrounded by a unique panorama, recognized all over the world, between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Apuan Alps.
The creator and organizer of the event, Gianluca Laliscia, said “San Rossore is the kingdom of biodiversity, on one side this makes our job easier, on the other it motivates us to respect the environment. In order to reduce the emissions we’ve limited the number of spots  where the auto can reach the riders, to three.
Another aim of using less cars on the tracks is to protect the local ecosystems which give home to  the oak, ash tree, the alder, the maritime pine, deers, hoopoe, knighting ales, redheaded woodpecker and squirrels. This is added to the daily care and welfare of the animal with an increase of security standards: 4 water points and 14 safety spots to monitor the passage of the horses along the track and, in case, to be able to take action and help both, horses and riders, thanks to an immediate and efficient radio communication”.
