The wait is nearly over. Today, the highly anticipated ‘Fieracavalli’ officially gets underway.
Verona’s equestrian event, which this year celebrates edition number 117, offers a double dose of entertainment for visitors and will not only be staging the fourth leg of this season’s FEI World Cup, but also the prestigious and popular exhibition dedicated to all things horses.
Let’s start our preview though by checking out the sporting side as Verona will be staging both CSI2* and CSI5* competitions. The big one though is the latest leg of the World Cup, which is set to be staged for the 15th time at Fieracavalli.
Jumping Verona is a not-to-be-missed event for all Italian fans and brings together all the movers and shakers of the sector.
What’s more, entrance is free for the first two days (Thursday and Friday) at the Pala BMW which is hosting the first two competitions scheduled and where the stands have been made bigger to accommodate an impressive 5.000 spectators.
As always, there is plenty of space dedicated to horse-breeding too with Italy’s finest young talents all on display in hall number 3. The U21 Regions Cup and the National Championships for Ponies are other competitions part of the young horses category in Verona.
Another must-see in Verona is the hall dedicated to the Arab Horse – one of the eldest and noble breeds in the world with over 200 types on display.
To continue, one of the new features this year at the Fieracavalli is the hall dedicated exclusively to rural tourism, the first in Italy, which has also brought in local businesses thanks to the promotion of the local territory and wine and food.
On the subject of rural tourism, a new guide has been launched thanks to the work of Fieracavalli and Touring Club Italiano whereby those interested can explore the beauty of the Italian territory by horse through a selection of 21 magnificent routes.
Finally, another new feature this year is the free entrance granted for all federal coaches and instructors. They can gain access to the exhibition simply by registering through the appropriate areas and collect their tickets at the FISE desk.
