Bones of an extinct horse found

Cavallo idruntinus 1

The Equus Hydruntinus used to live in the area of Fucino in the province of Aquila in Abruzzo and used to be hunted along with Deer. Now the remains of one of these extinct horses has been found around the area and the evidence points to the fact that it disappeared from earth some years ago.A leg and foot of the horse were found and the Equestrian World was given by professor Margherita Mussi, who works at the Sapienza University of Rome. The bones also revealed that the horses, much like man at the time, used to migrate to escape the cold winters.A terrible earthquake some 15/18,000 years ago buried an archaeological site of some significant value in the Abruzzo region with its lava and rubble that has only now been discovered.
