Con Quidam Retires: Sanne Thijssen’s Showjumping Partner Bows Out After Final Grand Prix at Andalucía Sunshine Tour
Dutch rider Sanne Thijssen has retired her longtime showjumping partner, Con Quidam, following a strong performance at the CSI4* Grand Prix at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour on Sunday, March 15, 2026. The pair finished second, a fitting end to a career that spanned multiple international competitions.
“This was his last round. I hope he enjoyed it,” Thijssen said after the Grand Prix. “He is getting a day older, and I want to retire him while he is still fit. He has given me everything. He always tried his heart out in the ring, and I’m incredibly grateful for the years we had together.”

Thijssen was visibly emotional after the round, showing tears of joy at what Con Quidam achieved one last time. Ending his career on the podium marked the perfect conclusion for a horse who has been a reliable presence in top-level showjumping.
Throughout his career, Con Quidam consistently delivered strong results in international CSI3* and CSI4* Grand Prix events and played a key role in Dutch team competitions at European-level events.
