Concorso San Giovanni from June 26 to 28 at CIT, Florence
For the first time as part of the celebrations for the patron of the city, the CIT of Florence, one of the oldest riding schools in Italy, has organised a CSI 2* International Show Jumping Competition, with a total prize fund of 40 thousand euro.A significant number of important foreign riders, from the likes of France, Germany and Switzerland, have already agreed to appear at the event.
More than 100 jockeys will compete over four days, including some stand-out names from Italian show jumping, like Natale Chiaudani and Emilio Bicocchi, but not forgetting the members of CIT – Team Arval: Cristian Pitzianti (record holder at 2.32 metres at the 2002 Premio Potenza in Piazza di Siena), Francesco Corsi (Italian Young Rider champion in 2001 and winner of various stages of the Nations Cup, William Furlini (4th in the Senior Tuscan Championship Grade 2), Edoardo Tognoni (6th at the Young Riders European Championships in Athens) and Filippo Baldini (9th at last week’s Nations Cup Small Tour Young Riders). The height of the jumps will vary from 1.2 to 1.45 metres. President of the panel of judges will be Cesare Benedetti, foreign judge will be Frenchman Jean Claude Bouard, while course designer will be Roberto Muré.The high technical level of the event – which is under the banner of FISE (Italian Equestrian Sport Federation) – will reach its apex on Sunday afternoon with the “Banca CR Firenze” Grand Prix, with the bank the main sponsor of the weekend’s show jumping, who together with Arval, Samsung and Centro Leasing have made the organisation of this appointment possible, which like every year draw a large number of spectators, not to mention representatives from local institutions and celebrities from the world of show business.Press Officer: Donatella Tirinnanzi
