CSIO Barcelona becomes again the epicenter of the equestrian world

This Friday starts the 109th edition of the oldest international sporting event in Spain
After winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics, the Swedish team presents itself at CSIO Barcelona 2021 as one of the favorites
In addition, and for the fifth consecutive year, the PoloPark ESTRELLA DAMM returns. The RCPB polo field and its 20.000 m2 will become a festival of creative proposals, music, trends, gastronomy and entertainment activities for children and adults
CSIO Barcelona comes back in a triumphant way. As stated by Santiago Mercé, president of CSIO Barcelona, “In this 109th edition, a large part of the ten world’s best riders will attend: Daniel Deusser, Martin Fuchs, Marlon Zanotelli, Henrick von Eckermann, Jerome Guéry and Steve Guerdat“. The oldest international sporting event in Spain will be held from Friday October 1st to Sunday 3rd at the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona and will feature a luxury line-up.
During the three days of the event, a total of 6 competitions will take place. The most outstanding will be the Longines FEI Jumping Nations CupTM Final. The top eight nations from the first qualification round will go directly to the Sunday’s final, while the remaining seven teams will compete for the Challenge Cup on Saturday. At the individual level, the Negrita Cup, the CaixaBank Trophy and the Copa de SM la Reina- Segura Viudas Trophy, will take place on Saturday.
Throughout this edition, the rules established by the health authorities will be rigorously applied among attendees to ensure a complete CSIO Barcelona 2021 success.

From Tokyo 2020 Olympics to CSIO Barcelona

A total of 15 nations have qualified  the Longines FEI Nations CupTM Jumping Final and will compete to succeed Ireland at the top of the podium: Germany, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, USA, Uzbekistan, and Spain as host country.
Among the participants, the Swedish team as gold medalist at the Olympics in Tokyo stand specially out, the representatives of Switzerland who have just been proclaimed European Champions and the German team with the number 1 in the worlds ranking, Daniel Deusser, as well as Andre Thieme, actual European Champion.
In the Dutch team arrives with, Maikel van der Vleuten, individual bronze medalist in the last Games. At the individual level, the competition also counts with the participation of riders and amazons from Argentina, Bahrain, Colombia, and Portugal.
Curro Espinós, Real Club de Polo de Barcelona president, welcomed and opened the event stating that “the Olympic champion horses return to first-class facilities, as the infrastructures are the ones that were created to host the Barcelona ’92 Olympic Games“ .

The RCPB promotes the solidarity project ‘Cabalgando la Vida’
Emilio Zegrí, RCPB Foundation president, highlighted that “in its 109th edition the competition will show its most sensitive aspect by actively collaborating with ‘Cabalgando la Vida’, the solidarity project with positive social impact in Barcelona and which focuses on a study of hippotherapy in boys and girls who have undergone a cancer treatment”.
For Santi Siquier, head of the territorial sport activities of the General Secretariat of Sport and Physical Activity of the Generalitat de Catalunya, “CSIO Barcelona is a jewel for the city and is very relevant as it attracts riders and amazons from all over the world. Thanks to the efforts of the competition and the Real Club de Polo, this year we reopen the competition after some difficult months, but surely with more enthusiasm than ever to make this years CSIO a historic edition ”.
Gabriel Arranz, Promotion and Sports Events director of the Barcelona City Council, thanked the link between the competition and the city, making it an international equestrian epicenter: “The Real Club de Polo de Barcelona deserves the respect of the Barcelona City Council for making possible that, once again, the CSIO Barcelona will be a reality ”.

Santi Serra presents “Equestrian Breeze“
Santi Serra’s exciting show, that supposes an alternative to the sporting event, will be repeated five times throughout the weekend. As one of the national references of natural dressage and avoiding all external support, he establishes a link between human and horse through gestures, looks and sounds. Highly emotional, the unpublished spectacle that Sercam Shows will offer at the CSIO Barcelona will present the essence of the horse, a friendly, docile and sensitive animal, along with its dogs and hawks.

The Polo Park ESTRELLA DAMM, entertainment for all audiences
In accordance with the festive atmosphere that CSIO Barcelona awakens in our city, the Real Club de Polo once again cedes 20,000 m2 of its polo field to the ESTRELLA DAMM PoloPark. A space dedicated to the family with all kinds of activities including a complete Foodie Fest, a large market, the Brand Villade and the Kids Park for the little ones with its traditional Pony Park, among other areas. In this edition the show jumping will also alternate with small format shows and several daily musical concerts that will take place in the polo field, the largest green space in Barcelona.
In addition, repeating the experience of the last edition, natural dog and cat food brand, Nature’s Variety, will present several Agility shows. Nature’s Variety also encourages all pet owners to come with their pets to the central arena to participate in agility activities, as well as to test some of its new food products. On the other hand, the Mounted Unit of the Guardia Urbana Barcelona will present twice its traditional exhibition.
