Let’s take a look back now at the results from the main events that took place over the weekend, starting with the CSIO5* Mannheim where there was a great result for the home rider Ludger Beerbaum, winner of the Mannheim GP with his 12 year-old Holsteiner Chiara (Contender).
There were 5 clears in the final phase of the Mannheim GP over 1.60m, but the quick and efficient pairing of Beerbaum and grey mare Chiara managed to see off the competition from the other combinations which included the also very fast Beezie Madden and Cortes ‘C, in second place with a time that was just over a second slower than the German rider. Ukraine’s Katharina Offel took the final podium slot on the mount Zipper, who is well known to the Spanish rider Sergio Alvarez Moya.
It wasn’t just Beerbaum that stood out in front of his own fans however and there was another young German that did well at Mannheim in the form of David Will with the fantastic Mic Mac du Tillard (Cruising). In fact the young German rounded the course in the quickest time, but unfortunately for him was lacking in precision and his 8 penalties meant he had to settle for 12th place. Here is a complete list of the top-10:
1st Ludger Beerbaum GER Chiara 222
2nd Beezie Madden USA Cortes ‘C
3rd Katharina Offel UKR Zipper
4th Paul Estermann SUI Lord Pepsi
5th Abdel Saig EGY Vingino

7th Kevin Staut FRA Qurack de Falaise HDC
8th Laura Kraut USA Deauville S
9th Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum GER Fibonacci

Moving away from Germany and to Hungary, it was an excellent weekend for Denmark, and after winning the Budapest leg of the Nations Cup, Danish rider Andreas Schou rode to victory in the GP with Allstar (Oklund). He was followed by compatriot Soren Pedersen with Tailormade Chaloubet in second while ending the Danish dominance was Irishman Paul O’Shea with 9 year-old KWPN mare Skara Glen’s Sienna (Chacco Blue) in third. As for the Italian representatives, there was a respectable 7th place finish for Massimiliano Ferrario with Loro Piana Rigoletto della Florida.
