LGCT 2015: Bengtsson conquers the Italian capital.

Rolf-Goran Bengtsson has ridden to victory at the Rome leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour.
The majestic setting of the Italian capital was the scene for the prestigious event with riders and fans brought together in an arena which will be very hard to beat surrounded by magnificent marble statues.
Commenting afterwards, the Swedish rider also had plenty of positive comments for what was the first ever edition of the tour in Rome and a GP that was worth 300.000 euros.
Bengtsson, competing with his Holsteiner stallion Casall Ask, was followed by Portuguese rider Luciana Diniz with Fit For Fun 13 in second and Germany’s Marcus Ehning with Comme il Faut in third.
By winning in Italy, Bengtsson took his second win of this season’s tour after also triumphing in London. As for Diniz, her second place finish meant she cut the gap to the tour leader Scott Brash who wasn’t competing at the equestrian event in Rome. The rest of the top-ten was as follows:

As for the overall standings, Diniz is now hot on the heels of Brash with the Portuguese rider on 265 points and the Scotsman on 276. Swedish rider Bengtsson has also reduced the gap after winning in Rome and is on 262 points. The rest of the top-ten continues as follows:
