LGCT Rome: Patrice Delaveau wins with Lacrimoso HDC.
The Longines Global Champions Tour in Rome came to a close yesterday with a win for French star Patrice Delaveau who jumped his way to victory with Lacrimoso 3 HDC in a 1.50/1.55 m competition in front of the two Italians Lorenzo De Luca and Emanuele Gaudiano in second and third place respectively.
Renowned course designer Uliano Vezzani put the riders to the test, with the final stretch of the course causing most of the problems for the 51 horse and rider combinations. In fact, just 14 managed to clear the course in round 1.
Naturally, the Rome public were thrilled by the performances of the home riders Gaudiano and De Luca, and both men were faultless not picking up a single penalty. However the experience of Delaveau shone through and he was slightly quicker than his two Italian rivals, riding home in a time of 35.46 seconds. De Luca went closest to the Frenchman’s time, stopping the clock in a time of 35.71 seconds, while Gaudiano finished in 36.50 seconds.
