Swedish show jumper Wilma Hellström has captured the attention of the equestrian world not only through her success in the ring but also through her remarkable partnership with her horse, Cicci. A familiar face at top-level competitions, Wilma doesn’t define her ambitions through a traditional bucket list. Instead, she finds joy in meaningful moments — like returning to her favorite show in Rome each year. “I love the history, the atmosphere, the beauty of the city. You don’t just visit Rome — you experience it,” she shares.
Lover of Nature and History
While thrill-seeking activities like bungee jumping are firmly off the table (“I’m terrified of heights!” she laughs), Wilma does dream of seeing wild animals in their natural environment. “Nature fascinates me,” she says. That curiosity extends beyond animals to historical places, making Rome’s rich heritage a perfect match for her interests.
The Travel Essentials
As a frequent traveler, Wilma is never without her essentials: a banana (her go-to snack), a pair of tweezers (a quirky habit passed down from her mother), and extra gloves in her ring bag — just in case of rain, sweat, or wear. She also carries a backup KEP Italia helmet in her car, always prepared for an impromptu ride. “You never know when you’ll need it,” she says.

Her favorite model is the E-Light Carbon in blue and black, which she considers flawless in both design and safety. “I wouldn’t change a thing,” she says. Coming from a family of doctors, safety has always been a priority for her, and she never rides without a helmet — whether in the show ring or just schooling. She also favors a brown chin strap, a subtle but stylish detail that ties in beautifully with her brown saddles and overall aesthetic. “It adds elegance and brings everything together,” she explains.
Looking Ahead – Big Dreams in the Sport
Though Wilma doesn’t keep a checklist of goals, she has clear aspirations in the sport. One dream is to compete at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, a show she’s long admired for its tradition and prestige. And of course, the ultimate milestone? The Olympic Games. “We came close last year, but we’re not giving up. Maybe 2028 in LA,” she says with quiet determination.
