Well, it’s going to be a fantastic show if yesterday was anything to go by

We witnessed some excellent competition yesterday with the start of our international classes, with wins by James Whitaker and Nicole Lockhead Anderson.

The weather is glorious at the moment and it’s looking warm and sunny for the rest of the show. There’s so much to look forward to – not just in terms of brilliant showjumping action but also championship showing, scurry driving, and the very cute Hickstead Mini Challenge on the River Lawn! Tickets start from £10 and there are concessions available, plus under-15s go free on Friday and Saturday. There’s something for all members of the family, including the shopping village, street food stalls, and a funfair down.

Scottish rider Nicole Lockhead Anderson took the top spot in today’s ClipMyHorse.TV Derby Tankard with new ride Catino 10. A total of 27 combinations came forward for the 1.50m world ranking class, with nine riders producing that crucial first round clear to go into the jump-off. Nicole was last to go, and she produced a perfectly-timed round to shave 1sec off the leading time, relegating Ireland’s David Simpson and Pjotr Van De Kruishoeve into second place.

Nicole narrowly missed out on a double when finishing second in today’s Stoner Jewellers Vase, riding Chatondo. It was James Whitaker and Just Call Me Henry who took the top prize, finishing more than 1.5sec quicker than his nearest rival.
