There were many events taking place last weekend at Oristano, Sardinia with 200 participants competing over the 2 days of trials in various equestrian disciplines and categories. From the first edition of the Trofeo Città di Oristano to the Pony Club Trofeo Challenge there wasn’t a moment of rest-bite for the riders or the spectators!
The trials in Oristano were a great success thanks to the organisers who put on an excellent event. What is more, it highlighted the state of the art facilities, in particular the grass field, which allowed the smooth running of all trials. It will hopefully lay the foundations for the future in which a range of different trials and disciplines can take place at the same venue.
In addition to the organisational success, the region of Sardinia can also take pride in its sporting success thanks to Caterina Costaglioli with Picolit do Rioacima who won the “brevetti children-livello 1”. It was the second of five stages that are scheduled after the last one was held over a month ago at Chilivani. The trials are worth qualification for the semi-finals in September in Pontedera before the finals take place in Verona.
On the subject of youth, the head of the Regional Committee for FISE for show-jumping, Paolo Rosas, has called up 4 people to the Sardinia team at the Under-18 Coppa Giovani, one of the trials which is scheduled at the new edition of Piazza di Siena at Rome from the 22-25 May. Marta Frau with Furore Bello and Andrea Cinus with Lurianox, Thomas Dastara with Hornet’s Silber and Filippo Sechi with Elema del Sinis are the chosen ones that will be flying the flag high for the island of Sardinia and taking on the other Italian regions in Rome.
It’s also worth mentioning the first edition of the Oristano Trofeo Città where Giovanni Carboni on Sarino finished ahead of his instructor Gianleonardo Murruzzu on Blue Eye Babe thanks to a second place and fourth place finish in the C130 and C135 trials. In third place was Alessandro Anedda on Spartaan. The C115 category trophy meanwhile went to Franco Aroni on Galindo ahead of Alessia Bonamici on Florya and Alberto Sanna Randaccio on Nirvenia.
