At just 23, Taha Yedikardeş is already gaining attention in the world of international show jumping. But beyond the medals and rankings, there’s a rider with a quiet focus, a surprising love for Argentine tea, and a heart fully devoted to his horses. We sat down with Taha for a lifestyle-focused conversation — less about technique, more about the person behind the saddle.

What’s One Thing On Your Bucket List?

“Definitely being in the top ten of the world rankings,” Taha says immediately. “That might sound like a professional goal more than a bucket list item, but for me, it’s a dream I’m really committed to.”

Unsurprisingly, horses are always at the center of his vision. “Even if you ask me to think outside of horses, I still come back to being at the top level in this sport.”

If You Had to Think Outside the Horse World?

Taha pauses, then smiles. “Actually, I was a little bit torn between becoming a football player or a rider. But I don’t think I had quite enough talent for football,” he laughs. “So I’m happy I chose what I’m genuinely good at.”

Dream Destination — No Horses Allowed

“That’s a hard one. When my horses feel good, I feel good. I don’t care much about the rest,” he says honestly. But if he had to take a true holiday?

Some tours in Spain, maybe. They feel a bit like a holiday for me — and for the horses too.”

One Thing In Your Shopping Basket You Haven’t Bought Yet?

Taha thinks for a moment. “Honestly, I’m not much of a shopper. I only buy what I really need.” But eventually, he reveals:
A signed jersey from Messi. That would be something I’d love to have.”

What’s One Essential Item You Always Travel With?

My mate tea. Always.”
It’s an unexpected answer, and there’s a reason behind it.

“I’m dyslexic, so focusing has always been a challenge,” he shares. “I used to take medication for concentration, but it wasn’t great for my heart. Then a football player in my hometown introduced me to yerba mate. It’s natural, helps me focus, and is actually healthy for your heart and digestion. I never travel without it.”

And In Your Ring Bag?

Taha grins. “A towel — and cookies. Always.”

Final Thoughts

Taha Yedikardeş may be young, but his mindset is anything but. With big dreams grounded in discipline and an unshakable passion for the sport, he’s not just climbing the ranks — he’s building a life centered around doing what he loves most.

And wherever he goes, there’s a good chance his mate tea — and a cookie or two — won’t be far behind.
