Germany has confirmed that two of its superstars in show jumping will not be travelling to Rio for the Olympic games in August. Cornet d’Amour and Codex One, normally paired with the riders Daniel Deusser and Christian Ahlmann respectively, will both be absent in Brazil because of injuries. Both horses would have brought their huge international experience to the Olymic games and they will surely be missed by the German national team.
Fortunately for Germany, Cornet d’Amour and Codex One were not they only two horses in contention for the Olympic Games and Daniel Deusser will now be riding on the back of First Class van Eckelghem while Christian Ahlmann will now be paired with the equally outstanding Taloubet Z but could also opt to take Epleaser van’t Heike. Unfortunately Mario Stevens only had Brooklyn as an option but the injury to the horse means even the rider has not been called up for the Games.
The rest of the Germany team is made up of his majesty Ludger Beerbaum with Chiara 222 or Casello, Marcus Ehning will choose between Cornado NRW and Pret a Tout and Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum with Fibonacci.
The last real test for the German riders will be Aachen where the final decisions will be made for Rio.
