Sardinian Ponies in Action in Corvia and Chiramonti
The equestrian program continues with a special date for ponies. The Endurance Association team in Sardinia, in collaboration with Cherchi Agriculture, is organizing the third leg of the Sardinian Endurance Championship. Sunday 26 June in Chiaramonti from 9 o’clock onwards, the three categories will begin their events. ‘A’ category for children between 6 and 12 years old for five kilometers. ‘B’ for 12 to 16 year olds for 10 kilometers and the Open category over 2 and a half kilometers. Gianni Mura, the regional Endurance coach will be present and will be choosing his team for Ponvadi, scheduled for the start of September in Rome. Sardinia will be defending the 2 gold medals won there last year in the ‘A’ and ‘B’ categories. Given the levels of commitment shown by all age groups over the first two legs of the championship, it’s doubtful that Gianni Mura will have an easy job choosing his team. He’ll be bearing in mind the first two legs as well as the third.
Sticking with the ponies, in Cervia at the moment is the Italian Championship Pony Games. Sardinia is represented by the Circoli Gran Pilu team and the Porto Torres team, led respectively by Emilia Costa and Maria Laura Borgacci and accompanied by Maria Grazia Sechi, president of the Fise Regional Committee.
