The London leg of the Global Champions Tour ended with further confirmation of the extraordinary form of Scott Brash, the Scot took to the field as the man to beat, confirmed following no mistakes on Hello Sanctos during the first round, one of only two faultless circuits in this leg of the Global: the other from Ludger Beerbaum on Zinedine.
By Beerbaum’s own admission, second place was the best possible outcome for him yesterday by virtue of the form of the Scottish performer and his Olympic rider Hello Sanctos, who closed with a unbeatable time of 38.54. Beerbaum’s 43.85 could not do anything but secure second place, however, still worth 90 thousand euro in prize money; Brash’s victory earned him 148 500 euro.
Five pairs who had access to the final stage with just two net runs in the barrage completed by Brash and Beerbaum. 3rd place Maikel van der Vleuten on VDL Groep Verdi made four faults, but still eliminated Katie Dinan on Nougat du Vallet in the jump-off while the fifth placed Laura Kraut, who qualified for the barrage on the 10-year-old KWPN bay Nouvelle, withdrew before the start.
