COMPETITIVE UPDATES
In the pursuit of offering relevant national competitions and fostering the growth of equestrian sport in Canada, the Royal Horse Show introduces significant changes for the 2024 edition:
- Farewell to the Pony Jumper Division: The esteemed Pony Jumper Division will be excluded from the Royal Horse Show 2024 schedule, with no replacements currently planned. The Royal Horse Show Committee will reassess this decision at the conclusion of the event, hoping for its return if relevance and participation increase nationally.
- Restructuring of the National Championship U25 Division: Due to low participation in the U25 division, the Royal Horse Show will revise how it offers championship-level competition for Canadian U25 athletes. Collaborating with the Jumping Committee of Equestrian Canada, the Royal will ensure accessible opportunities for as many athletes as possible. Details will follow in the first quarter of 2024.
- Increase in Quota for Qualified Entries in Hunter Divisions from the West: Responding to the growing interest in hunter divisions from Western athletes, the quota of qualified entries will be increased to three (3) in 2024. If one or more of the three positions remain unfilled, the next qualified entry from the National Rankings will be selected. All other current regional quotas will remain unchanged.
