On the ranks the golden ticket to Paris

In the prestigious setting of Milan’s San Siro arena, the highly anticipated team finals of the European Equestrian Championship are poised to commence. Ten of Europe’s finest equestrian teams will vie for the coveted title of Team European Champion, with Olympic qualification hanging in the balance.

Great Britain, represented by the accomplished Ben Maher and Faltic HB, takes the inaugural position, though their current standing at 10th place, with a total score of 24.42, presents a challenging start to their campaign.

Following closely is Team France, holding a score of 22.47, while the Spanish team, presently in 8th place with a score of 21.59, is set to follow, intent on climbing the ranks.

Team Netherlands, currently holding a total score of 19.29, precedes Italy, initiating their performance at a team score 18.42, with Austria starting at 16.77. These teams understand the critical importance of maintaining low scores to secure their place at the Paris Olympic Games, where only three tickets are available, intensifying the competition for that golden opportunity. The teams still in need of qualification for Paris 2024 are Spain, Italy, Austria and Switzerland.

Team Ireland, currently positioned at 4th place with a score of 10.00, inches close to Switzerland’s overnight 3rd position. They will enter the arena as number 8 on the starting list with a total score of 9.92, determined to secure one of those highly sought-after Olympic spots.

Team Sweden, presently in 2nd place with a score of 9.51, closely trails Team Germany, the overnight leaders with a score of 9.31. These two formidable teams will be the 9th and 10th to grace the arena, promising an exhilarating showdown.

Previous to the teams the spotlight shifts to 50 individual riders, each vying for a place in Sunday’s final, where only 25 competitors will advance.

Against the backdrop of the San Siro’s grandeur, this day promises a display of equestrian excellence, where Olympic aspirations and the pursuit of the Team European Championship converge. The world watches with bated breath to witness which nation will emerge triumphant and will hold the title of European Champion and which earn a cherished ticket to the Paris Olympics.
