Andalucía October Tour III: Zayna Rizvi and ‘Exquise Du Pachis’ in the 2024 Olympic qualifier GP,

Brazil took second, with Felipe Amaral riding ‘Robinson 163’ and Sweden completed the podium, with Hannah Akerblom on ‘Chodec’.

Vejer de la Frontera, 24th October, 2023.  It was a thrilling end to this week of jumping here at the Andalucía October Tour III 2023 on Sunday, with the Olympic 2024 qualifier Grand Prix, sponsored by ‘la Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte’ and co-financed by the European Union. This Longines Ranking class was set around a demanding track held in the Milton arena due to rather Autumnal weather conditions. There were 51 competitors jumping the 1.50m course and just six went through to the jump off. American rider, Zayna Rizvi and the 13yr old mare ‘Exquise du Pachis’, by ‘Vagabond de la Pomme’ x ‘Ogano Sitte’ were the only pair to jump clear, but they did it in style in the fastest time of just 41.37s, taking a really deserved win in this demanding class.

Brazilian, Felipe Amaral was second with ‘Robinson 163’ (‘Casall’ x ‘Cassiano 3’) with one pole in 43.07s. Swedish riders took the next two places, third was Hannah Akerblom with ‘Chodec’ (‘Guidam Sohn’ x ‘Centgraf’) and fourth, Jonna Ekberg with ‘Damethea de Moulery’ (‘Mylord Carthago’ x ‘Vas Y Donc Longane’). In fifth was French rider, Guy Jonqueres D’Oriola with ‘Aristo Du Loir’ (‘Lando’ x ‘Ephebe For Ever* La Silla’).

British Ben Walker took both the top spot in the 1.35, with ‘Fygo Von D’Ouwe Grint’ and also third with ‘Balloon Cruise’ finishing off a great week of results here at Montenmedio. Second was Spanish, Jesús Garmendia Echevarría with ‘Ulises del Pomar’ and fourth,  was French rider, Marie Demonte with ‘Pollin Van Zarrenlinde’. Fifth was Spanish rider,  Irene Mónica Horvath with ‘Ventura Mail’.

British rider, Claudia Moore with ‘Jadraque P’ was the winner of the 1.25, stopping the clock in 57.50s. She was more than a second faster than Danish, Martin Dinesen Neergaard with ‘Kingston 54’ who, in turn was nearly three seconds faster than British, Hannah Robins with ‘Kobe’. Spanish rider, Marta Garat Macías with ‘Rapid Boy II’ was fourth keeping up her good results this week. Fifth was British,  Jessica Dimmock with ‘Dewpoint Diamond’. There were 60 riders in this class.

There was a complete British whitewash in the 1.10, with Jonathan Jarman in the top spot on ‘Wii Fi’; Lola Luchford second with ‘Izar LB’; Emily Wray third with ‘Jewel O’ and fifth with ‘Ferragamo L’ and, Georgina Round slipped into fourth place with ‘Artilla’.

Competition starts up again on Wednesday with the Young Horse classes and this kicks off an exciting last week of top competition, which includes a Nations Cup with 17 countries signed up to participate.
