Bill of Ethics for the Protection of Horses presented
Under-Secretary of Work, Health and Social Politics, Francesca Martini signed the Bill of Ethics for the Protection of Horses, whereas the first rider to sign the document was Gianluca Laliscia for his effort in favour of the animal rights but especially for his role as Italian Ambassador of World Endurance backed by the FISE. Marini presented an ordinance with new rules which protect the health of people and horses in events held outside of specialist structures in order to avoid the repeat of numerous grave accidents and injuries which have occurred over recent years. Gianluca Laliscia, a world endurance champion, is head of Sistemaeventi.it which is orgainising the Assisi Endurance Lifestyle, in which from September 26th the Meydan City FEI Open European Endurance Championships will take place. He said: “To work in order that the Bill of Ethics is respected makes me immensely proud, both as a rider and as organiser of international equestrian events –starting from the imminent European Championships Open in September in Assisi thanks to the backing from the FIE and FISE.”At the end of the press conference held in Rome, Martini handed Laliscia a t-shirt with the slogan ‘Io amo i cavalli’ [I love horses], proposing that the slogan becomes the symbol of the movement. The Bill of Ethics is now open to jockeys, trainers, vets and all other people involved in the different contexts where horses are involved with the hope that Italy can become a point of reference worldwide in the protection of horses by following the principles expressed in the document.
