Breeding: the Danish studbook in the spotlight

Over the course of this season the Danish studbook Danish Warmblood Paard has attracted a lot of attention for the excellence of some of its products. The Danish horses have been particularly appreciated in both the dressage discipline an the categories reserved for young horses.
The latest example of this success is Atterupgaards Cassidy, breed by Kristine and Michael Sinding at the Atterupgaard ranch. The son of Caprimond x Donnerhall, at the recent European Championships in Gothenburg he made it onto the podium, along with his rider Cathrine Dufour, in three disciplines: winning silver in the team event, and bronze in the GP special and the Freestyle.
Atterupgaards Cassidy was purchased by Dufour when he was just seven years old and he has grown into one of the most successful dressage steeds.
Another gem who has come to the limelight is Fiontini, a seven year old mare who won the world title at the young horse world championships at the start of August as well as the category’s gold medal with her rider Severo Jesus Jurado Lopez.
Fiontini, the daughter of Fassbinder x Romanov, and her Spanish rider had already won the world title for her category when she was five and when she was six.
Some of the other horses to keep an eye on are Blue Hors Zee me Blue (Blue Hors Zack) with Danish rider Daniel Bachman Andersen, who came fifth in Fiontini’s category. Red Diamant (Romanov x Dream of Heidelberg) who came fifth in the six-year-old category with rider Cassoe Carina Kruth. Hasselhoej Donkey Boy reached the podium and bronze medal in the five-year-old category under the guidance of rider Jan Moller Christiansen.
The latest auction by the Danish Warmblood Elite Foal Auction opened yesterday, and who knows which of the foals will rise to glory in near future…
