The sixth week of competition at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour is in full swing at the facilities of Dehesa Montenmedio, once again confirming the event as one of the most important fixtures on the international winter show jumping calendar. The sporting programme features a packed schedule including a CSI4*, CSI1*, the Youth CSI, and CSIYH* classes dedicated to young horses.

Now in its 32nd edition of the Circuito Hípico del Sol, the event continues to attract a high-level international field, with riders and horses representing more than 30 countries. The competition also benefits from institutional support from the Junta de Andalucía – through the regional Ministry of Tourism and Andalucía Exterior – and the Diputación Provincial de Cádiz.

Throughout the week, the various arenas of Montenmedio will host numerous international classes, with the CSI4* competitions serving as the main sporting highlight. The week will culminate on Sunday with the Stephex CSI4* Grand Prix, the flagship class of the week, accompanied by a CSI1* competition.

The Week’s Sporting Programme

The CSI4* schedule will begin on Thursday with the Hipotels Trophy, a 1.50 m Big Tour class to be held in Arena 3 – Don Antonio.

On Friday, riders will compete in the Fabbri Trophy, a 1.50 m Big Tour class counting for the Longines Ranking, while Saturday will feature the WKD Small Grand Prix 1.45 m (LR).

The weekend will culminate with the highly anticipated Stephex CSI4* Grand Prix, the central competition of the week that traditionally attracts some of the world’s leading international combinations.

Spotlight on Young Riders

Special attention is also given to the Youth CSI, which will feature 71 young athletes from 12 nations. Spain will be strongly represented with 41 riders entered.

The programme includes Children, Juniors and Young Riders categories, offering young talents the opportunity to compete in a high-level international environment. The Youth competitions will conclude on Sunday with the Junior and Young Rider Grand Prix – Sycamore Auction Trophy, which will take place in Arena 5.

Young Horses on the Road to the Finals

The CSIYH* programme for young horses is also progressing, now in the second week of the second cycle for horses aged 5, 6, 7 and 8 years old. The finals for these categories are scheduled for the following week of the circuit.

The first days of competition have already highlighted several promising horses:

  • 5-year-olds: nine horses have completed five clear rounds, eleven have recorded four clears and thirteen have achieved three clears.
  • 6-year-olds: eleven horses have five clears, forty-one have four clears and twenty-seven have three clears.
  • 7-year-olds: eight horses have produced five clears, thirty-four have four clears and twenty-nine have three clears.
