The 83rd edition of the Rome CSIO5* – Fratelli D’Inzeo Masters has finally got underway. To mark the occasion, Italian riders Giulia Martinengo Marquet, Lorenzo De Luca, Piergiorgio Bucci and debutant Daniele Augusto Da Rios all met with the press to give their first thoughts and feelings on the tournament which gives them a chance to impress in front of their fans.
There is plenty of optimism in the Italian capital that it will be a successful event, which started with a win for Kent Farrington in the first competition this morning. The US rider was able to combine speed and precision in a trial over 1.45m to take first place with his 10 year-old mount Cha Cha Cha 7.
Alex Duffy came in second with his 12 year-old bay mount Wrangler II, who looked impressive on his debut. The final podium slot was taken by Ukraine’s Cassio Rivetti with the 9 year-old sorrel mare Cassiana.
Italian rider Emilio Bicocchi came in fourth with Hialoubet Vassago and there were in fact plenty of top-ten finishes for Italy with Luca Maria Moneta (6th with Benheur S), Filippo Moyersoen (7th with Loro Piana Biricchina Bella) and Riccardo Pisani (8th with Cigo B).
