The biggest equestrian event in Asia, the Masters Grand Slam, officially begins tomorrow in Hong Kong with the opening ceremony. On Friday afternoon meanwhile the competition will get going with the best 25 riders in the world in action.
However, it isn’t just a showcase for some of the equestrian circuit’s finest. There is also an art exhibition inside the Asia World Expo Centre in association with the Hong Kong Opera Gallery.
The equestrian themed exhibition is just one of the many attractions in addition to the 4 metre tall statue made up entirely of coat hangers by the Scottish artist David Mach. Moreover, in addition to contemporary art, there will also be a classical work of art by Salvador Dalì on display, which is displayed in the above photo.
The manageress of the Hong Kong Opera Gallery, Shirley Yablonsky, has said that an important event like the Masters was the perfect occasion to display some of its art and a rare chance for the general public to appreciate some of the most renowned contemporary artists.
