Science has accused the equestrian world of being more dangerous than drugs and has asked for more studies to be conducted. According to David Nutt, scientific consultant to the British government on the matter of drugs, some sports are more dangerous than MDMA, the main component of Ecstasy. “In the US, accidents on horses cause more than 11,500 concussions with serious neurological consequences per year,” states Nutt on the Journal of Pharmacology. When classifying drugs in terms of the damage they cause it is clear that some sports are more dangerous than serious drugs. Nutt’s declarations are intended to get the Home Office to reclassify MDMA because according to his last report in the effects of MDMA ecstasy is less dangerous and is a non addictive drug compared to heroine or LSD. The studies are on-going.
