Teresa Blázquez Abascal with ‘Diabla PS’ is second in an exciting 10 horse jump off

Vejer, 29th January 2024.  Its a Spanish top two in the last Grand Prix of the Andalucía Pre-Sunshine Tour with Luis Mateos Bernáldez taking the ring by storm and flying around the jump off to finish in 32.56s, the only pair under 33s, with the very athletic ‘Chamant de Biolley’. Luis was third in the Ranking class on the 26th with this super 12yr old gelding who is by ‘Chacco Blue’ and from an ‘Argentinus’ mare; clearly building up to this great win in the Grand Prix today.

Luis Mateos told us after his win:  “I am very happy to be here, I really liked the way both horses jumped today (he was also eighth with ‘Espoir de Chenee’ in a very fast time but with one pole). I felt ’Chamant’ de Biolley’ was super, just like the first day and he is a very fast horse for a jump off because he has a very big stride, so I took advantage of this and I had to risk it.  I risked all and it was successful”. Luis is off to Valencia for a bit but returns to compete here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour in March.

Our home rider led the class for quite some time before Luis took the lead, Teresa Blázquez Abascal had a super jump off round with ‘Diabla PS’ and finished in second on 33.19s. In third was Italian rider, Emanuele Camilli with ‘Chaccrouet’; fourth was British rider, Ana Vernon with ‘Volnay de Choc Z’ and fifth was another Spanish rider, Carolina Aresu García Obregón with ‘Elixir de Hus’. The Grand Prix was the highlight of the day and closed the Andalucía Pre Sunshine Tour, which is kindly sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Government of Andalucía, through Tourism and Sports of Andalucía.

In the 1.35 Italian rider, Camilla Vittadini topped off her really successful results here at Montenmedio by winning the class with ‘Ganesh Des Till’, stopping the clock in the second phase in just 23.27s. Polish rider, Maksymilian Wechta had a great try to beat her but ended up one second behind with ‘Cassiopeia’. Third was German rider ,Helmut Schönstetter with ‘EIC Lloyd’; fourth and fifth were British riders, Harrison Hatteea with ‘Come On Ferrari’ and Chad Fellows with ‘La Champion PS’.

There was a British win in the 1.30 from Alfie Bradstock with ‘Bigstar Derick’; second was Swiss rider, Simon Bürki with ‘Verona Z’ and third Austrian rider, Natalie Frank with ‘Gugano del Beiro’.
