After several attempts and coming agonizingly close last season, Luciana Diniz has finally claimed her first win during a Longines Global Champions Tour.
Yesterday, the Portuguese rider rode to victory in the Madrid leg with her mount Winningmood. Interestingly, the quickest round the course was Britain’s Scott Brash with Hello Sanctos followed by Irishman Bertram Allen on Romanov, but the two men both lacked the precision shown by Diniz and collected penalties for their errors.
The horsewoman from Portugal was in fact the only one to score a double clear and registered a time of 60.24 seconds. Philippe Rozier with Rahotep de Toscane came in second and Spain’s Manuel Fernandez Saro with Enriques of the Lowlands claimed the final podium slot in front of his fans. The rest of the top-ten was as indicated below:
4th Scott Brash GBR Hello Sanctos
5th Bertram Allen IRL Romanov
6th Kenny Darragh IRL Sans Soucis Z
7th Laura Kraut USA Cedric
8th Eric Lamaze CAN Coco Bongo
9th Abdullah Al Sharbatly KSA Talan
10th Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum GER Fibonacci 17
