2013 awards by the British Equestrian Federation

The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) presented awards to 4 individuals in recognition of their success and achievements at the Olympia Horse Show in London. Vaulter Hannah Eccles, show jumper William Funnell and Performance Manager for show jumping Rob Hoekstra were rewarded for their contributions to the sport along with Michael Foljambe and Simon Brooks.
The awards were handed out by the president of the British Equestrian Federation Keith Taylor. Please see below for more information about the prize winners.
Hannah Eccles: she has competed at both junior and senior level individually, in team and pas de deux competitions with her sister Joanne. The two sisters won the first ever medal for Great Britain (a silver) in the pas de deux at the World Equestrian Games in 2010, which they then repeated at the European Championships a year later. She has won four consecutive silver medals in pas de deux and is part of the Champions in Schools Programme and coaches young vaulters, such as promising talents Andrew McLachlan and Rebecca Norval.
William Funnell: a world-class show jumper, and his wife is also well known in the equestrian circuit and is Pippa Funnell. William was also a member of the British team that took part in Herning and even the team that competed in the final in Barcelona. He was a vital member of the Great Britain team that won the gold medal, riding with stallion Billy Congo, who was raised with Donal Barnwell.
Rob Hoeckstra: he is Dutch by birth, but with the British colours has competed for Great Britain on seven Nations Cup teams, had international success and won the Hickstead Derby in 1999. He is part of the Show jumping Performance management since 2010 and has led his squad to gold at the London 2012 Olympic Games and 2013 European Championships.
Simon Brooks: the president and chief executive of HPower Group, his work has been crucial in the development of international dressage and show jumping in Great Britain. He was the director of the Olympia Horse Show in London and the 2009 Alltech FEI European Jumping and Dressage Championships as well as the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
