One of the major events to watch out for this weekend is taking place in North Salem, just one hour away from New York.
We’re talking of course about the American Gold Cup 2015, one of the most prestigious show-jumping competitions in the USA and which this year is set for the 45th edition.
North Salem this year will also be hosting the latest leg of the FEI World Cup, worth  $215.000, for the new unified US Division which up until last year was split into the west and east coast divisions.
Riders from 14 different countries will be competing with the Americans naturally eager to perform well on home soil. Amongst the riders taking part we find Olympic stars Leslie Howard and Peter Leone (winners of a silver medal with Team USA at the Atlanta Olympic Games) and Christine McCrea, winner of the gold medal at the Pan American Games.
Other big names include Laura Kraut, the talented Katie Dinan and even riders from Europe such as Beat Mandli, Paul O’Shea, Shane Sweetnam, Conor Swail, Lorcan Gallaher, Richie Maloiney, Darragh Kerins and Adam Prudent.
The US tournament continues to go from strength to strength with each year that passes, showing itself to be one of the most popular US and international events and attracting some of the biggest names from the show jumping world.
Today’s first major competition is the American Gold Cup Qualifier over 1.60m with prize-money of 85.000 dollars up for grabs. Here is the starting order: http://eventcontent.hippoonline.de/1072/sta_erg/101_staENG.htm?style=longines
